Comparison of the spermatogenesis of control and melav2 RNAi treated M. lignano. In the control animals (A), spermatogonia (sg) and spermatocytes (sc) were observed in the peripheral region of the testis, and elongating spermatids (st) and sperm (sp) were present in the center. In the melav2 RNAi treated animals (B), spermatogonia (sg) and spermatocytes (sc) were also observed to be of normal morphology, but the center region of the testis was filled with aberrant spermatids (ast) with large vacuoles.
