Growth conditions promoting cilia formation are required for Hh signaling activation by Smo but not Gli1 or Gli2. UGSM-2 cells overexpressing hGli1-GFP, hGli2-GFP, hSmo-M2, or GFP alone were plated at subconfluence or confluence and grown in low or high serum media.
