Confocal images demonstrate that P2Y1 receptor immunoreactivity (red Cy3 immunofluorescence) colocalizes with NFL (green Cy2 immunofluorescence) specific for neuronal processes (A) and with TH (green Cy2 immunofluorescence) (B). The insets "a" and "b" in B, represent immunofluorescence analysis performed in the absence of the primary antibodies and only with the anti-rabbit or anti-mouse secondary antibodies, respectively. The inset "c" in B, shows large (1–3 μm diameter) varicosities present on TH-positive fibers expressing P2Y1 receptor (yellow immunofluorescence).
