Aggregation of gdt 2^- cells in the presence of amino acids and folate. Cells were harvested from axenic culture at exponential growth phase, washed and plated at a density of 2 × 10⁵ cells/cm² in buffer containing either amino acids (A) or 1 mM folate (B). In the presence of amino acids gdt2^- mutant cells aggregate 4–5 hours earlier than wild type, while in the presence of folate they aggregate only 1 hour earlier than wild type, as they do in unsupplemented buffer.
