Nuclei in B & C are stained with DAPI (blue). A and B are the same section while C is a similar section from the same animal. The figures clearly show that the area where the Meso-1 labeled cells are ingressing is devoid of collagen labeling, suggesting that the ingressing cells play a role in the remodeling of the extracellular matrix.
