From: Microarrays and RNA-Seq identify molecular mechanisms driving the end of nephron production
Dual-label fluorescent whole mount in situ hybridization studies showed the expression patterns of a set of genes which have a changing level of expression after birth. Tgfbi and Fat3 were expressed in the nephron progenitor mesenchyme (red signal) surrounding ureteric bud branch tips (blue - Wnt11 riboprobe) at P2. Bmp2, Clu, and Lama4 (red) were expressed in the nephron anlage, and were also co-expressed (arrows) with Six2 (blue) in capping mesenchyme.
