  1. Three "pulse-chase" lineage-labeling experiments were performed, as described in the text, in which tamoxifen was administered (by oral gavage to adults, or subcutaneous injection to neonates) and mice sacrificed after chase periods of 7-120 days. For each sample, we counted total cells per field (DAPI), acinar cells (amylase+) and duct cells (cytokeratin-19+), as well as the number of cells double-positive for these markers and for the lineage tracer. From these counts, we derived the labeling efficiency (expressed as a percentage) of total cells (DAPI), acinar (AMY) and duct (CK19) cells. Shown are summary data for every mouse analyzed, as well as mean values +/- standard error. ND, not determined.
