Table 2 Random numbers of retinal vessels branch from the optic disc. The number and patterning of the retinal vessels was examined in 150 retinas from ~100 adult wild type zebrafish. Most of the retinas (64%) exhibit 6 or 7 main branches radiating from the optic disc, although the number of vessels varies from 4 to 9. In some individuals (n = 21), the retina from the left eye was compared to the retina from the right, showing no apparent correlation between anatomical location and the number of main branches.
