  1. Equal numbers (5 × 107) of cells were plated onto phosphate agar plates and allowed to develop completely until 48 hours. The spores were then harvested and counted. 100 spores per each strain were plated in association with K. aerogenes with and without treatment with 0.5% Triton-X-100 for 15 min. The percentage of plaques obtained with/without detergent and the percentage of spores harvested from the mutants was calculated setting the spores harvested from wild type cells as 100 percent. The result shown is from a representative experiment.
