Whereas rays 1–9 can clearly be distinguished in wild type males, in lon-8 males they are clumped together as an amorphous mass. (C)-(F) DIC and fluorescence micrographs of approximately 40 hour old him-5(e1490) males expressing lon-8::gfp in the lateral and ventral part of the tail hypodermis.
