Cells of both strains were plated for development under standard conditions. Pictures were taken at the indicated times in hours after the onset of development, all at the same maginification. 7 hr: BS153, tight mounds; Ax4, ripples. 14 hr: BS153 and Ax4, transient slugs; 24 hr: BS153 and Ax4, fruiting bodies. For BS153, several toppled fruiting bodies are indicated by the arrows.
