LacZ+and lacZ-neonatal OSE cells are proliferative. P2 mice were injected with BrdU 48 h prior to analysis. Ovaries were collected, X-gal stained, probed with anti-BrdU antibody (green) and counterstained with PI (red) to label cell nuclei. BrdU-positive cells were observed within somatic cells of the ovary (left panel) suggesting that mitosis is not restricted to the OSE. White arrow heads show BrdU+ and black arrow heads lacZ+ cells.
